ETHOS
The Logo: an earth juxtaposed onto a skull wearing a crown of thorns—is a visual representation of the foundation of creation of which the brand was created. The earth symbolizes the raw material, the foundation upon which all is built. The skull, a memento mori, reminds us of the fleeting nature of existence, urging us to create and leave our mark. The crown of thorns, a symbol of sacrifice and suffering, hints at the dedication and passion poured into each creation, a reminder that true artistry often demands a price. It suggests a rebirth or a new beginning, the earth renewed through creative expression. Similar to the rebirth or new beginning of each custom product, which is upcycled and given a new life.
1:1 – The Mark of Individuality
The Book of Genesis is the first book of the Bible, designated as 1:1. This numerical significance isn’t lost on Haus of Vain. Their commitment to 1:1 custom creations reflects this biblical parallel. Each piece is unique, a singular creation, just as the Genesis story is a singular event. It emphasizes the brand’s focus on individuality, where every creation is a distinct chapter in the ongoing story of design.
Haus of Vain: A Sanctuary for Creativity
"Haus of Vain" might seem paradoxical at first glance. "Vain" often carries a negative connotation, suggesting excessive pride or shallowness. However, within the context of the brand, "vain" takes on a different meaning. It represents the inherent desire within every artist to create, to leave a trace of their existence, to make their mark on the world. It's not about superficiality, but about the deep-seated human need for self-expression.
The "Haus" element is a direct nod to the Bauhaus school. Bauhaus was more than just a design school; it was a community, a “house” where artists from diverse backgrounds—painters, sculptors, architects, craftspeople—came together to collaborate and learn from one another. Haus of Vain embodies this same spirit. It's a "house" for creatives, a place where individuals with different skills and perspectives can collaborate, inspire each other, and support one another's projects.
Picture an architect who collaborates with a doctor, a nurse and a caretaker to design a new hospital. Just as those professionals bring unique insights to the inner workings of a hospital and what should go into the design of a hospital that an architect might not be aware of due to his lack of experience, our goal is to collaborate with creatives within the community to bring their specialized knowledge to the table, enriching the creative process and leading to more innovative and impactful results.
Haus of Vain aims to build a family of creatives, fostering a supportive ecosystem where everyone can thrive in their own artistry while contributing to one another’s projects, the ever-evolving story of creation.
